Joanna will be introducing herbalism as a science, practice, and way of life. Merging science and spirituality of herbalism, this talk will consist of an introduction and history of herbalism, practical ways of using herbs daily to improve overall health, and materia medica to learn about a few herbs and their spiritual and healing properties.

About Joanna

Joanna Botvin is an accomplished herbalist, permaculturist, ethnobotanist, and passionate educator dedicated to encouraging individuals to reconnect with themselves and the earth through mindful and regenerative practices. She holds degrees in Sociology and Psychology and certifications in Permaculture, Holistic Landscape Design, and Herbalism from Bastyr University and Ecoversity. This diverse educational background allows Joanna to offer a holistic perspective in her teachings, emphasizing the interconnected health of our bodies, minds, and planet.

You can often find Joanna in her garden, designing permaculture landscapes, hiking with her dog, swimming in natural waters, making plant-based medicines, and teaching others how to attune to nature and the cycles of their bodies. As a practicing herbalist, she runs a small business called Curalma, where she creates a variety of herbal products. Joanna continually expands her knowledge through research in bioregional herbalism and leads foraging walks, all while practicing Vitalist Herbalism.
